Abdominoplasty, also called «Tummy Tuck», is a procedure that consists of removing the excess of skin and fat from the abdomen. The surgery lasts up to 4 hours and requires general anesthesia. It can be combined with liposuccion. An incision is made around the belly button and in the inferior part of the abdomen. An abdominoplasty can improve the upper abdomen appearance and is more often used on patients having lost a lot of weight, suffering of skin laxness, having had bariatric surgery or having had gastric plication. It is also common to use this procedure on patients post-pregnancy.
After the surgery, patients will stay in the clinic for standard port-operation check ups for a maximum of 3 days. Moderate pain is completely normal after the sugery. Patients are generally able to come back to work only a few days after the procedure. We recommend waiting about 6 six weeks before partaking in intense physical activity. Continuous changes will be observed for the months following the procedure. A sheath compression will also be recommended for patients having had an abdominoplasty.
