Blepharoplasty, eyelid surgery, is one of the most common and effective methods to rejuvenate the face. It permits to correct the appearance of tiredness around the eyes. The results for blepharoplasty are also more apparent and longer lasting than hyaluronic acid injections or botox.
Blepharoplasty is a procedure that lasts a maximum of 3 hours. It is conducted under either general anesthesia or local anesthesia, depending on the patient’s preference. More specifically, this procedure corrects wrinkles, “pockets” under the eyes or simply eyelid symmetry. Small incisions will be made under the inferior eyelid lashes as well as in the natural eye fold, if needed. The procedure consists, then, of removing the excess of skin or fat to give the eye a balanced appearance. After the incision is closed, it leaves no appearance of scar.
Patients will stay at the clinic for 1 or 2 days after the procedure for daily post-surgery check ups. Moderate pain is to be expected after the procedure, but is easily controlled. Patients will be able to go back to work a few days after the procedure, as long as they do not pratice physical work. We also recommend to wait 6 weeks after the procedure to start practicing intense physical activity again. Improvements will gradually continue in the months following the procedure. Temporary mesures like the application of prescription creams or wearing sunglasses will sometimes be recommended after the procedure.
